February 4th - February 8th

On Thursday, February 14th we will celebrate Valentine's Day! If students choose to pass out Valentine's Day cards, they should get a card for everyone in the class.  There are 22 students in the class. 

The final day for students to turn in their Six Flags reading page will be on Monday, February 4th.  This is optional. 


We'll be starting a 5 week session of Junior Achievement on Wednesday. Mr. Dan Blocker will be coming in to teach our third graders a curriculum involving business and community. He is an awesome volunteer and we are always so pleased to invite him into our third grade world.


The Upcoming Week at School:
Social Studies:  There will be a chapter 3 test on Thursday, February 12thA study guide to come home this week for chapter 3. Students should use this guide, their graded reviews (in their social studies folder), and their textbooks to study. They will take their textbooks home towards the end of the week. Also, in class students will be creating an immigration scrapbook.

Science: We will begin chapter 4 in our Balancing Forces unit. Chapter 4 is titled, "Why does the train float, even though gravity is acting upon it?"

Math: The unit 4 study guide will be due on Monday, February 4th. The unit 4 test will be on Tuesday, February 5th. Students can also review by going to my math Google Classroom to read over the addition and subtraction strategies we have studied, along with looking at examples of using a number line to solve elapsed time problems.  We will study angles in unit 5, module 1. Unit 5 focuses on Geometry & Measurement (Area and Perimeter).  We will have a divide by 6 timed test on Thursday, February 7th.  They will have two minutes to complete 26 problems.  

Spelling:  Students will receive a new spelling list and should complete three activities using the spelling menu.  The test will be on Thursday, February 14th.  The activities will also be due on Thursday, February 14th.  

Reading: We will continue our unit on traditions, immigration, and culture. Look for information about a Culture Day project to go home this week.

January reading logs are due on Monday, February 4th. Students will receive a February reading log on Monday.

Things to Remember:
Monday 2/4:  January reading logs are due. The math unit 4 study guide is due.
Tuesday 2/5: The math unit 4 test is today.
Thursday 2/7:  There will be a divide by 6 test.  

Thursday 2/12: There will be a chapter 3 social studies test.
Thursday 2/14: There will be spelling test and the 3 activities are due. There will be a divide by 7 test. We will celebrate Valentine's Day!
