May 29th to June 2nd

I have enjoyed all my students so much this year!! Thanks to all the parents who have helped make the 2016/2017 school year such a great one! Remember Friday, June 2nd is an early dismissal day, please plan accordingly. Students will be dismissed at 11:30 am.


Students will go bowling from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31st

On Tuesday, May 30th students should turn in their Chromebook, case, and charger. They should bring these items to school.

On Thursday, June 1st we will have our school picnic! Each child will receive a hot dog. If your child cannot eat a hot dog, they will need to bring their own lunch. 

Four Days Until 4th Grade Countdown:
Tuesday: Wear crazy socks 
Wednesday: Crazy hair day
Thursday: Sunglasses/Hat Day
Friday: Bring a fancy pen to write your signature with:)

ELA: May Reading Logs are due on Tuesday, May 30th. We will finish The One and Only Ivan. 

Math: Today, Friday, May 26th was our last day of math class.  I sent home a summer math packet will the students that they have the option of completing. I have really enjoyed having my math students this year!

May 22nd to May 26th

Students will meet their second grade pen pals on Wednesday, May 24th!  The third grade students will be able to tell the second grade students all about Prairieview!

The Thirty-Ninth Week at School:
Science: We have finished the study of chapter 4 on ecosystems. There will be a chapter 4 test on Wednesday, May 24th. Students can keep their science textbooks at home until Wednesday.

Social Studies: We will focus on science.

Spelling:  Students will receive a new spelling list and 3 activities sheet. The 3 activities will be due on Friday, May 26th.  They will take their test on Friday, May 26th, as well. 

ELA:  We will continue reading The One and Only Ivan while practicing many different reading skills.  In addition, students will complete RAZ kids each day. Students will finish their opinion/persuasive paper on whether or not animals should be kept in zoos. 

May Reading Logs will be due on 5/30. Students should keep on reading each night.

Math:  We will finish the study of unit 7 on Patterns and Problems. There will be a test on Thursday, May 25th. The unit 7 study guide is due on Wednesday, May 24th. Our last day of math class will be on Friday, May 26th where we will have a celebration. I will be sending home a summer math packet will the students that they have the option of completing. I have really enjoyed having my math students this year!


Things to Remember: 
Wednesday 5/24: There will be a chapter 4 science test. The math unit 7 study guide is due.
Thursday 5/25: There will be a unit 7 math test. 
Friday 5/26: There will be spelling test and the 3 activities are due.

May 15th to May 19th


The third grade students had a great time on the Brookfield Zoo field trip! Thank you so much to our chaperones and Mrs. Linde!

MAP Testing: Any students who were absent during MAP tests will take their test/s this week.

Students should turn in their bowling permission slips by Wednesday, May 17th, if they have not already done so.

Happy Mother's Day to all of the wonderful Moms! Have a great Mother's Day!

The Thirty-Eighth Week at School:

Science: Students will continue to study ecosystems in chapter 4. This week we will continue the study of lesson 3, titled, How Do Living Things Survive in Ecosystems? and then lesson 4 titled, How Do Ecosystems Change? 

Social Studies: We will focus on science.

Spelling:  Students will receive a new spelling list and 3 activities sheet. The 3 activities will be due on Friday, May 26th.  They will take their test on Friday, May 26th, as well. 

ELA:  We will continue reading The One and Only Ivan while practicing many different reading skills.  In addition, students will complete RAZ kids each day. During Daily 5, students will continue working on writing. 

May Reading Logs will be due on 5/30. Students should keep on reading each night.

Math:  We will continue the study of unit 7 on Patterns and Problems. We will finish the study of unit 7, module 2 which focuses on expressions and equations. Then we will begin unit 7, module 3 on reviewing multiplication standard algorithm.


Things to Remember: 
Wednesday 5/17: There will be a games test in P.E. Bowling permission slips are also due.

Friday 5/26: There will be spelling test and the 3 activities are due.

May 6th to May 12th

This Thursday, May 11th we will be heading to Brookfield Zoo! Students should bring a sack lunch (completely disposable), wear comfortable shoes, and dress appropriately for the weather.

MAP Testing: Third grade students will take their math MAP test on Monday, May 8th and their reading MAP test on Tuesday, May 9th.  Please talk to your child about trying their best! Also make sure they eat a good breakfast and get plenty of sleep.  Thank you!

Please note that Friday, May 12th is an early dismissal day.  Students will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m.  

The Thirty-Seventh Week at School:

Science: Students will continue to study chapter 4, lesson 2 on types of ecosystems.

Social Studies: There will be a Chicago III Quiz on Wednesday, May 10th. Students have already received a study guide.

Spelling:  Students already have a spelling list and 3 activities sheet. The 3 activities will be due on Friday, May 12th.  They will take their test on Friday, May 12th, as well. 

ELA:  Students will write an opinion/persuasive paper! In addition, students will complete RAZ kids each day. During Daily 5, Students will also read good fit articles and work on identifying the main idea and supporting details. Students will take the Reading MAP test on Tuesday, May 9th.

Math:  We will continue the study of unit 7 on Patterns and Problems. We will work on unit 7, module 2 which focuses on expressions and equations. Students will take the Math MAP test on Monday, May 8th. Please make sure students get a good night sleep and eat breakfast.


Things to Remember: 
Monday 5/8: There will be Math MAP tests. 
Monday 5/9: There will be Reading MAP tests. 
Wednesday 5/10: There will be a Chicago Quiz III.
Thursday 5/11: Students will go to Brookfield Zoo.
