Miss Pellin's Post
February 17th through February 21st

Remember that Monday, February 17th is Presidents' Day! There will be no school. Do you know the correct spelling of this holiday? Since Presidents Day is not the official name of the federal holiday, there is no one way to spell it. Both Presidents Day and Presidents' Day are common, and both are considered correct by dictionaries!

Thank you to all the parents who helped with the Valentine's Day Party! The students had a lot of fun!

Spring picture day will be on Thursday, February 20th.

The Twenty-third Week at School:

Science: We will continue the study of space in chapter 10.

Social Studies: We will begin the study of Chicago.

Math:  Students will not be tested on chapter 8.
Students will continue the study of fractions in chapter 10.  Also, there will be a divide and multiply by 8 test on Tuesday, February 18th.

Spelling: There will not be a spelling test this week or next week.  In place of spelling, students will continue to learn about prefix, suffix, and root words.

Reading: Students will present their biography facts.  They will also work on writing extended responses after reading different types of stories.

English: Students will finish typing their autobiography.  They will also learn about prefix, suffix, and root words.
