Mrs. Burland's Post
March 19th to March 23rd

Happy Saint Patrick's Day! Did you know that the Irish Society of Boston organized the first parade in the colonies on March 17th, 1737?

I enjoyed seeing the students' creative Leprechaun traps! Their hard work really showed!

On Thursday, March 22nd, the third grade will be visiting the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago! Students should bring a sack lunch that is completely disposable. They should also wear comfortable shoes and dress appropriately for the weather.

The Upcoming Week at School:
Reading: This week students will continue reading The One and Only Ivan while working on various reading strategies. We will also continue the study of pronouns, contractions, and the correct use of there, their, and they're.

Students should continue reading for 20 minutes each night!

Spelling: In lieu of spelling this week and the week we get back from break, students will be studying prefixes, base words, and suffixes. There will be a prefix and suffix test on Friday, April 13th

Math:   We will continue the study of unit 6 on multiplication, division, data, and fractions.  We will continue to focus on module one, multiplication and division strategies.

Social Science: We will continue the unit on Chicago! There will be a Chicago Test I on Wednesday, March 21st. Students were given a study guide that they can complete at home if they choose. They should use their Chicago packet to fill out the study guide. They may use the study guide when completing the test.
