Miss Pellin's Post
May 25th to May 29th

Remember that Monday, May 25th is Memorial Day. There will be no school! Please plan accordingly.

Monday, June 1st will be a very busy day for the third graders at Prairieview! In the morning, we will go bowling. In the afternoon, we are fortunate enough to have scientists from “High Touch-High-Tech,” come back to Prairieview, in order to enrich our studies on matter. Please make sure your child has both a signed permission slip and their money in to me if they have not done so already.

Field Trip: The Chicago boat tour field trip will be on Tuesday, June 2nd. Students can bring $8- $10 to Navy Pier for ice cream or a souvenir. This is optional! Our four parent chaperones for the bus trip will be:

Please meet us at Prairieview at 9am on June 2nd. We will also have several parents who were invited to meet us at the boat (at ~10:15 am).

Each chaperone will be required to pay an additional $6 charge. The buses will return to Prairieview at approximately 2pm. More information will be given out as the field trip approaches.

The Seventeenth Week of 2009 at School:
Home Room
Science: There will be a Chapter 12 test on energy on Thursday, May 28th.

Social Studies: We will not have a quiz on the history of Chicago. Students will be graded on "in class" work.


Language Arts
Spelling: There will be no Spelling this week or for the rest of the school year.

Reading: Students will receive a poem on Tuesday, May 26th. They should be prepared to read the poem on Friday, May 29th. Students will present their biography scrapbooks. They should either dress up as their character and/or bring in props. Students will be assigned to present on either Wednesday, May 27th or Thursday, May 28th. This will be the last week of Reading for this school year.


English: We will continue reviewing daily oral language. We will work on this everyday in class. On Friday students will work independently on the daily oral language sheet and it will be graded. Students will also finish writing narratives on their favorite vacation or on their favorite place. This will be the last week of English for this school year.

Math: This will be the last week of Math for the school year! We will work on long division.

Things to Remember:
Monday 5/25: There will be no school for Memorial Day.
Thursday 5/28:There will be a science test.


Monday 6/1: We will go bowling and have High Tech, High Touch visit.
