Miss Pellin's Post
May 11th to May 15th

Field Trip: The Chicago boat tour field trip will be on Tuesday, June 2nd. Our four parent chaperones for the bus trip will be:

4. Sydney's Mom

Please meet us at Prairieview at 9am on June 2nd. We will also have several parents who were invited to meet us at the boat (at ~10:15 am):

1. Jack's Mom
2. Kyle's Mom
3. Zach's Mom
4. Gino's Mom
5. Alex's Mom
6. Amy's Mom

Each chaperone will be required to pay an additional $6 charge. The buses will return to Prairieview at approximately 2pm. More information will be given out as the field trip approaches.

The Sixteenth Week of 2009 at School:
Home Room
Science: This week students will continue studying chapter 12 on energy.

Social Studies: Students will continue to learn about Chicago including the Chicago fire and Chicago landmarks. The students will also be taught from a volunteer in the community sponsored by Junior Achievement.


Language Arts
Spelling: There will be Spelling List 31 Test on Friday, May 15th.

Reading: We will finish our biography scrap books. Students will receive a poem on Monday, May 11th. They should be prepared to read the poem on Friday, May 15th.

English: We will begin reviewing daily oral language for the next couple of weeks. We will work on this everyday in class. On Fridays students will work independently on the daily oral language sheet and it will be graded. We will also begin to study narratives. In the next couple weeks students will write a narrative on their favorite vacation or on their favorite place.

Math: There will be "Mad Minute" division test on 8's on Friday, May 15th. Students will continue to study patterns in chapter 17. There will be a Chapter 17 Test on Wednesday, May 13th.

Things to Remember:
Wednesday 5/13: There will be a Chapter 17 Math Test.
Friday 5/15:There will be a "Mad Minute" division test on 8's. There will also be a Spelling List #31 Test.
