April 20th to April 24th
Earth Day is on Monday, April 22nd! We will be celebrating Earth Day at Prairieview on Wednesday, April 22nd. Students can wear an Earth Day shirt or the color green!
Open House: It will take place from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m on Thursday, April 30th. Third grade's Open House theme is Chicago, so come wearing your favorite Chicago team's apparel! I look forward to seeing each of you!
The Thirty-First Week at School::
Science: We will continue the study of space in chapter 10.
Social Studies: Our class has been "hired" by a local travel agency in need of Chicago brochures. Each student has been working on designing a brochure which will attract visitors to Chicago. Students will also learn about the lakes and rivers in Chicago.
Spelling: This week in spelling we will work on List 23. There will be a pretest on Monday, April 20th. The final test will be on Friday, April 24th.
Reading: This week we will read various fables. We will also work on finding answers in nonfiction text. There will be a weekly vocabulary quiz on Friday, April 24th.
English: We will finish editing our story from Cow O'Leary's point of view on how the Great Chicago Fire started.
Math: We will finish the study of topic 12. Students were given a study guide which should be completed by Tuesday, April 21st. There will be a topic 12 quiz on Wednesday, April 22nd.
Students are working on timed division tests. All students have passed their divide by 2 and 3 test. They are now on divide by 4. They will have 3 minutes to complete 24 problems. Students will have 5 days to pass each division test which they take daily. If they pass in less than 5 days then they will move on to a new fact. Students should be practicing their facts every night.
Wednesday 4/22: There will be a chapter 12 math quiz. Students should wear green for Earth Day!
Friday 4/24: There will be a spelling test and a vocabulary test.
Thursday 4/29: It is Open House from 6:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
