Miss Pellin's Post
April 28th to May 2nd

Please join us for our spring Open House on Thursday, May 1st from 6:30 - 8:00.  Third grade's Open House theme is Chicago, so come wearing your favorite Chicago team's apparel!  There will also be a book fair and an ice cream social.  I look forward to seeing each of you!

The Thirty-Second Week at School::
Science: There will be a chapter 10 test on Thursday, May 1st.  Students can keep their textbooks at home until the day of the test.

Social Studies: Our class has been "hired" by a local travel agency in need of Chicago brochures. Each student will continue designing a brochure which will attract visitors to Chicago. They are using their packets and books to choose topics to include in their brochure.

Spelling:
There will not be spelling this week.  We will work on reading poems fluently.

Reading:  We will read different poems.  While reading poems students will look for similes, metaphors, personification, idioms, cliches, hyperbole, and alliteration.  There will be a poetry vocabulary test on Wednesday, April 30th.

English: We will continue a friendly letter writing unit.  Students will  work on writing a letter to their second grade pen pal.

Math:  We will continue the study of chapter 14 on geometry.  Students who have not passed the mixed multiplication test should continue to practice.  They need to complete 40 problems in 4 minutes.

Things to Remember:
Wednesday 4/30: There will be a poetry vocabulary test.
Thursday 5/1: There is a chapter 10 science test.  It is Open House!
