March 14th to March 18th



Happy Paddies Day! Did you know that the Irish Society of Boston organized the first parade in the colonies on March 17th, 1737?

Please note that on March 15th there will be a Parent Connect meeting to learn more about how to interpret your child's MAPS scores.

The Eleventh Week of 2011 at School:


Science: We will focus on Social Studies this week.

Social Studies: We will continue to study Egypt. There will be an Egypt vocabulary quiz on Wednesday, March 16th.  Students will learn about King Tut.  We will also begin studying Chicago. 

Spelling: We will have spelling this week.  We will be working on spelling list 18, which has words ending in -ies.  There will be a test on Friday, March 18th.

Reading: We continue reading the chapter book Ramona Quimby, Age 8.  While reading, students will work on many reading strategies including finding the main idea, making connections, and sequencing. 

English: This week we will continue the study of adjectives and adverbs in unit 4. 

Math: We will finish our study of probability in chapter 7.  There will be a test on Wednesday, March 16th.  Then we will begin the study of fractions in chapter 17. 

Students who have not passed their mixed mad minute multiplication test will continue to take it this week.  These students should be studying their facts every night. 

Things to Remember: 
Wednesday 3/16:  There will be an Egypt vocabulary quiz and a math test.
Thursday 3/17:  Happy Saint Patrick's Day!
Friday 3/18: There will be a spelling test.
