March 17th to March 21st 



Happy Saint Patrick's Day! Did you know that the Irish Society of Boston organized the first parade in the colonies on March 17th, 1737?


There will not be school on Monday (3/17) or Tuesday (3/18).  Please plan accordingly.  



The picture above shows the students typing a story about how the Chicago fire started from Cow O'Leary's point of view.  

The Twenty-seventh Week at School:

Science: We will continue studying the planets in chapter 10: lesson 3.

Social Studies: We will continue to study Chicago.  Students will learn about the World Fairs.  Look for a study guide to come home.  Students will take the Chicago II test on Monday, March 24th.  


Spelling: 

Wednesday:  Spelling sentences are due.
Thursday: Words written five times each are due. 
Friday:  Post test on lesson 20

Reading: This week we will read various stories and discuss cause and effect.  We will also discuss the difference between facts and opinions.  


English: This week students will finish writing about the Chicago fire from the O'Leary cow's point of view.  Then they will share them with the class.


Math: This week we will finish the study of chapter 11.  There will be a chapter 11 test in the week of March 24th.  Look for a study guide to come home.  There will also be a multiply and divide by 9 test on Friday, March 21st.  


Things to Remember:
Monday 3/17:  There will not be school.  
Tuesday 3/18:  There will not be school.
Friday 3/21:  There will be a multiply/divide by 9 test and a spelling test.

Monday 3/24: There will be a Chicago test.
