August 29th - September 2nd
We also each thought of "one word" to describe our feelings and goals for the year! We wrote the word on a stone which will be used as a reminder! My word is "believe" since I believe in each of my students. Ask your child what their "one word" is.
Please come to Curriculum Night at 6:30 pm on Thursday, September 1st. At Curriculum Night you will be given information about the school year.

Please review the Prairieview Handbook at http://www.ccsd66.org/schools/prairieview/. On the left hand side you will find a link to the Student Handbook.
We'll be MAP testing on Monday (reading) and Wednesday (math).

Science: We will begin with social studies.
Social Studies: We will study directions. Students will learn about cardinal and intermediate directions.
Spelling: This past week students will take the spell inventory to start our program Words Their Way. Students worked with this program last year. The inventory will help me determine where students should start in the program this year.
English Language Arts: We will be focusing on writing (writer's workshop) and reading (reader's workshop) throughout the year. The genre of folktales will be introduced this week as we close read Rumplestiltskin.
Math: I am excited to meet my math class on Tuesday, August 30th! My math class will be following a fourth grade curriculum using our new math program, Bridges. Although we will be following the fourth grade curriculum, we will be interweaving third grade concepts as needed. This information will be determined by pretests. There will also be some enrichment with the introduction of fifth grade concepts.
Things to Remember:
